Occupational Safety and Health

Risk Prevention and Safety (RPS) staff work directly with District agencies to assist in the development and implementation of occupational safety and health programs, based on federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and industry best practices.

OSHA standards are rules that describe the methods employers use to protect their workers from hazards. Examples of OSHA standards include requirements to provide personal protective equipment and fall protection, prevent exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous chemicals, ensure machinery is properly guarded, and ensure employees are properly trained to perform their jobs safely.

Compliance Assistance

RPS Occupational Safety and Health Specialists are available to provide District agencies with compliance assistance, general information about OSHA standards, and workforce training resources.
