Occupational Safety and Health Initiative

DC statute requires the District of Columbia Office of Risk Management (ORM) to conduct annual agency site safety inspections.  Risk Prevention and Safety (RPS) staff conducts these inspections to ensure that District employees have a safe and healthy work environment.  RPS staff also investigates occupational accidents, illnesses, injuries, and fatalities.  RPS works directly with agencies to assist with program development and implementation of safety programs, based on Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) standards, along with industry-leading safety standards and practices.  ORM inspects District government owned and/or operated sites and locations and frequently meets with agency staff and leadership to discuss safety concerns.
